The new main quarter for Aker Solutions is located at Fornebu, the area that amounted the former airport of Oslo.
The architect wanted the building to appear with the same strength and elegance as offshore structures. As a deck on an oil platform is lifted ut from the water, the first office floors are lifted up from the ground. The office volumes are anchored in a structural core, exposed in the first floor, containing all service functions. The spectacular cantilevers are approximately 25 m in up to six office floors, and give the impression of soaring over the public square. This also solves the placing of columns in the basement car park underneath.
